Game for Life Presentation at ACT Conference for At Risk Youths
24 Nov 2015
The Leadership Development Department was invited to conduct a workshop session on the Game for Life (GFL) toolkit at the recent ACT! Conference on At-Risk Youths. The conference was organised by CARE Singapore, supported by the National Committee on Youth Guidance and Rehabilitation (NYGR) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of NYGR. The 2 day conference provided a holistic overview of the youth-at-risk situation in Singapore and brought together key stakeholders to discuss and share their views on topics pertinent to Generation Z’s youth-at-risk.
The 1.5 hour workshop aimed to give participants the experience and preliminary awareness on how to design a structured sporting activity to facilitate the intentional learning of values through sport, using principles from the GFL framework. The workshop was attended and well received by social workers, youth workers, teachers and personnel from various government agencies and VWOs.
Following this workshop, the team is currently working in partnership with the Central Youth Guidance Office (CYGO) to contextualise and pilot the framework to suit the needs of personnel looking to use the framework to design sport and arts activities to engage Youth-at Risk.
