SNOC New Executive Committee Elected
The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) Annual General Meeting was held on 30 June 2014 and a number of key appointments/movements took place.
Minister for Manpower Mr Tan Chuan-Jin was voted unanimously and unopposed as the new President as Deputy Prime Minister Mr Teo Chee Hean stepped down from the Post of President of the SNOC. DPM Mr Teo Chee Hean spent 16 years as SNOC President since 1998 and four years as Vice-President from 1994-1998.
Stepping down as Vice-President was Mr Ng Ser Miang, however, in his capacity as a member of the International Olympic Committee he will continue to remain in the Executive Committee.
Also elected unopposed to the Executive Committee were four vice-presidents Dr Tan Eng Liang, Mr Low Teo Ping, Ms Annabel Pennefather and Mrs Jessie Phua.
Out of four nominees, three NSA representatives were elected: Dr Melanie Chew (Equestrian), Mr Milan Kwee (Taekwondo) and Mr Nicholas Fang (Modern Pentathlon).
Taking over Mr Kua Hong Pak as Treasurer, Mr Edwin Lee was elected unopposed.
Sport Development Group restructured to Singapore Sports Institute
As of 17 July 2014, the Sports Development Group of Sport Singapore has been restructured and rebranded together with the Singapore Sports Institute. This will not affect or change the way that we work with you and we will continue to partner with you to jointly achieve the goals of Vision 2030.
