Theme/Strand A – The Professional Coach as Multiplier
All over the world, there are more coaches than there are teachers, and Singapore is no different. Coaches therefore are the critical multipliers not just in the context of the sport itself but far beyond. Using sports to develop an individual holistically is a key philosophy in this modern era. This segment focusses on the coach as a “professional” and what it means to be one.

Theme/Strand B – The Athlete-Centred Coach
Coaching Pedagogy has shifted from coach-centred to athlete-centred. This segment of the conference focusses on contemporary thinking in coaching pedagogy, and the importance of understanding and connecting with our athletes so that coaches may better engage them to achieve success.

Theme/Strand C – Sports Science and Technology as Game Changers
Successful coaches embrace sports science and technology and leverage on them to better inform their coaching practices. This segment of the conference focusses on sports science and its various sub-disciplines to advance coaching practices.

Theme/Strand D – Make Singapore Sports Great …
Joseph Schooling’s Olympic Gold win stirred up a renewed belief that Singapore athletes can be successful in the international scene and at the highest level, and that the previous successes of Tan Howe Liang, Fandi Ahmad, Ang Peng Siong are not just a flash in the pan. How do we make sure that we have systems and processes in place such that our successes are sustained?
