Title

“Coach Education Programme (CEP) Session on Talent Identification” by Singapore Sports School (SSP)

(For All Coaches)

Description

This workshop aims to provide a holistic background of talent identification (TID) in sports, along with practical suggestions on how TID might be carried out. Topics to be presented include:

  • Systematic approach to TID
  • International TID systems
  • Position of TID in a socio-cultural context
  • The three basic factors for TID
  • Right time to identify, select and test for motor potential
  • Methods of identification

The presenter will be Mr Hans Peter Thumm, an experienced Track & Field consultant and senior International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) lecturer. Mr Thumm previously served as Technical Advisor for National Sports Councils of Malaysia, Nigeria and Tanzania, as well as consultant to the Ministries of Education in both Namibia and Indonesia.
