Saturday Night Lights
Providing safe and supporting environment for youths through football

Launched in 2013, Saturday Night Lights (SNL) is a youth development programme that engages youths aged 13 to 21 through football.
Held intentionally from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday nights, the programme provides a safe and supportive environment where youths can channel their energy positively while building meaningful relationships with coaches and peers.
Today, SNL brings together over 500 youths across 17 teams and seven venues, forming a strong community where young people develop confidence, teamwork and life skills through sport.
SNL creates the platform for our participants to build values through sport and opportunities to pick up relevant life skills through non-sport initiatives and courses. With various training venues spread across the island, eligible participants will be matched to the nearest training location using their residential address.
Creating Positive Alternatives for Youth
1. Safe Space on Saturday Nights
SNL takes place on Saturday evenings, giving youths a positive space to play football, spend time with friends, and be part of a supportive community.
2. Strong Youth Community
Many participants join through referrals from peers and coaches, creating a welcoming ecosystem where friendships and mentorship thrive.
3. Holistic Youth Development
Beyond football skills, the programme focuses on building character, discipline, leadership and responsibility.
The SNL Experience
What Youths Experience in SNL
Weekly football training led by certified coaches
Mentorship and guidance from positive role models
Opportunities to participate in leagues and competitions
Exposure to volunteering and leadership opportunities
A supportive community that encourages personal growth
Taking it to the next level
1. SportCares HEARTS Football League
The SportsCares HEARTS Football League is a key SNL platform where community teams complete in a structured, inclusive setting. Featuring divisions by skill set, it promotes fair play and positive development while allowing them to challenge themselves competitively. Beyond matches, it builds camaraderie, sportsmanship and mutual respect among youths from different backgrounds.
2. SNL Combined Men’s Team
The SNL Combined Men’s Team offers selected youths opportunities to compete at higher levels locally and overseas. Participants are chosen based on training commitment, community contributions, and coach and staff recommendations. The programme strengthens their ties with the SNL community while supporting growth both on and off the pitch.
