Best practices and standards for sport safety
Sport Safety is integral to our promotion of a sporting culture amongst Singaporeans. In 2007, the Sport Safety Committee released a comprehensive report with detailed findings on sports safety standards and systems aligned with international best practices. Since then, the report has undergone further reviews in 2014 and 2019. The Sport Safety Committee Report 2019 was used in the development of Singapore Standard SS 681: 2022 Code of Practice for Sport Safety. It provides requirements and recommendations to improve sport safety across competitive, school, recreational and fitness activities by advocating a proactive risk management approach to increase safe sport participation and foster continuous safety improvement. The following specialised Singapore Standards related to sport safety have also been developed and can be obtained from the Singapore Standards e-Shop:
SS 556:2021 Code of Practice for Design and Management of Aquatic Facilities
SS 700:2023 Code of Practice for Water Safety - Aquatic Facilities
SS 701:2024 Code of Practice for Inland and Open Water Sporting Activities
SS 710:2024+C1:2025 Code of Practice for Outdoor Adventure Education (OAE) Activities
