Singapore, 8 November 2025 – Team Singapore is gearing up for the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and 13th ASEAN Para Games, supported by the largest-ever team of sport science and sport medicine professionals deployed for a Major Games. As Singapore sends its largest-ever contingent of athletes to the SEA Games, this extensive support system ensures athletes are in peak condition as they head into competition. The flag presentation ceremony today marks the final stage of preparations as Singapore’s athletes get ready to represent the nation in Thailand.
During the ceremony held at the Dunman High School Performance Arts Centre, Team Singapore Ju-jitsu athlete Noah Lim and shuttler Yeo Jia Min were unveiled as the flag bearers for the 33rd SEA Games, while para Judo athlete Joan Hung will be the flag bearer for the 13th ASEAN Para Games.
Guests-of-honour Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, and President of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC); together with Mr David Neo, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Senior Minister of State for Education, presented the Singapore flags to the Chefs de Mission for the respective Games. Cricket athlete Sara Merican was the pledge taker at the Flag Presentation Ceremony today.
33rd SEA Games
The 33rd SEA Games will take place from 9 to 20 December 2025 across multiple cities including Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla. Singapore will field 930 athletes competing in 48 of the 50 medal sports on offer, including 551 debutants.
Mr Lawrence Leow, Chef de Mission for Team Singapore at the 33rd SEA Games, said, “This year, we are sending our largest-ever contingent to the SEA Games, which reflects the growing depth and strength of our sporting talent, and the number of athletes who have met the selection benchmark. I am honoured to lead Team Singapore and to journey alongside our dedicated team behind the athletes. As we head to Thailand, I would like to thank all Singaporeans for their steadfast support, and I hope everyone will continue to rally behind our athletes as they strive to fly our flag high.”
Team Singapore ju-jitsu athlete and SEA Games flag bearer, Mr Noah Lim, said, “Carrying the Singapore flag is both a great honour and a profound responsibility. Every time I step onto the mat, I think of the people who have supported me – my teammates, coaches, and family – and what it truly means to represent our country. Their support motivates me to push harder and give my absolute best. I hope my journey can inspire others to pursue their dreams with courage and passion.”
Team Singapore badminton player and SEA Games flag bearer, Ms Yeo Jia Min, said, “It’s a true privilege to lead Team Singapore out at the SEA Games. Carrying our national flag will be a proud moment not just for me but a moment that belongs to each and every Team Singapore athlete who has believed and worked hard for the chance to shine for our country. I hope to inspire all to fight with heart, unity and pride, together we can bring glory to Singapore.”
13th ASEAN Para Games
Following the 33rd SEA Games, the 13th ASEAN Para Games will be held from 20 to 26 January 2026, in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, where a total of 41 athletes will represent Singapore across 11 of the 19 sports offered.
Mr Gary Chong, Chef de Mission for Team Singapore at the ASEAN Para Games, said, “I am thrilled to lead Team Singapore at the ASEAN Para Games. As we approach the final phase of preparations for the Games in January, our athletes are ready to give their all. This year’s contingent brings together a powerful mix of seasoned athletes and fresh faces, each with their unique journey. The athletes, their coaches, and many more from the support team behind the scenes have worked tirelessly to prepare for this Games. I encourage all Singaporeans to rally behind them, show their support, and cheer them on as they strive to fly our national flag high on the regional stage.”
Team Singapore para judo athlete and flagbearer for ASEAN Para Games, Ms Joan Hung, said, “While I’ve had the privilege of competing in previous editions of the ASEAN Para Games, this upcoming one in Thailand feels especially significant. Competing in a new sport is already exciting, but having the honour of walking out as the flagbearer for Team Singapore makes this moment even more special. It’s not just a reflection of my personal journey, but of the collective spirit and determination of the entire team. I hope that every athlete will unleash their full potential, give their all, and together, make Singapore proud on the regional stage.”
One Team, One Dream Key Campaign Visual Unveiled
With the nationwide well-wishing initiative for Team Singapore athletes underway, the One Team, One Dream campaign key visual was also unveiled at today’s flag presentation ceremony. While "One Team, One Dream" has served as the rallying cry for our national athletes, the campaign now introduces a powerful new dimension – "One of Us". This addition shifts the narrative from ceremonial pride to a more personal connection, reminding Singaporeans that Team Singapore is not just a group of athletes to watch, but a reflection of the community itself. Athletes are not distant heroes; they are our neighbours, classmates, friends, and fellow Singaporeans who walk among us every day.
The visual captures the message by showcasing athletes in motion, exuding focus, drive, and unity of purpose as they prepare for the upcoming SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games. It serves as a reminder that their journey is shared by all Singaporeans – their struggles, perseverance, and dreams are a mirror of our own. Ultimately, the dreams of Team Singapore athletes are not theirs alone; they belong to every Singaporean, because they are one of us.
Efforts to rally support for Team Singapore athletes will continue in the coming months through a series of community engagement initiatives. These include athlete stories on social media platforms, community roadshows that bring the spirit of Team Singapore to schools and other key locations, and an open invitation for the public to send messages of support through the Team Singapore website.
From 8 to 21 December 2025, there will be a range of exciting activities at Kallang Wave Mall and other heartland locations in support of Team Singapore athletes, where visitors can capture photos and learn more about the athletes’ journeys. During the Games period, watch parties will also be held at selected People Association locations, featuring live screenings along with engaging activities suitable for all ages. These events are designed to bring the spirit of Team Singapore closer to the community, creating a sense of belonging where every Singaporean feels part of Team Singapore.
Largest Support Team for a Major Games
Under the newly integrated High Performance Sport Institute (HPSI), athletes benefit from a more seamless and structured end-to-end athlete development system that consolidates key capabilities in sport science and sport medicine. This unified approach enhances the support available to athletes, enabling more effective use of data analytics and performance analysis to provide robust, personalised support for athletes across various areas. From tailored training plans and mental and physical conditioning to athlete lifestyle support and pathways, HPSI ensures athletes are well-equipped both leading up to and during the competition phases of the Games, and beyond.
With Singapore sending its largest-ever contingent to the SEA Games, close to 100 sport science and sport medicine professionals – including doctors, dietitians, biomechanists, psychologists, physiologists, physiotherapists, and sport trainers – will be deployed across various locations in Thailand. This represents the largest support team ever sent for a Major Games. HPSI’s integrated team will collaborate closely with athletes to develop customised training plans, address performance challenges, and implement injury prevention strategies. This holistic support throughout the Games ensures athletes remain in peak condition with ongoing expert care wherever they are.
