SPORT SINGAPORE LAUNCHES 11TH GETACTIVE! SINGAPORE, UNITING SINGAPOREANS THROUGH SPORT THIS NATIONAL DAY

The 11th edition of GetActive! Singapore, 1 August 2026 – Sport Singapore (SportSG) officially launched the 11^th edition of GetActive! Singapore (GASG) today at Our Tampines Hub, rallying Singaporeans to mark the nation’s 61^st birthday through an islandwide celebration of sport and community. Held in conjunction with the Public Service Sports & Family Day, GASG was launched by Guest-of-Honour Mr Baey Yam Keng, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Transport, and Mr Chan Heng Kee, Head, Civil Service, alongside other guests. Spanning two weekends from 25 July to 8 August 2026, GASG offers sporting experiences, community festivals and competitions for Singaporeans to participate in across the island.

The launch saw close to 1,000 participants in the National Day Observance Ceremony sing the National Anthem and recite the National Pledge – an occasion made especially meaningful as we commemorate the 60^th anniversary of our National Pledge this year, reaffirming a shared commitment to building a more united Singapore. Participants then moved to the GetActive! Singapore Workout 2026: Dance of the Nation, choreographed to this year’s National Day theme songs, ‘You'll Be Okay’ and ‘Sparkle’, before taking part in sport tryouts including athletics, goalball and table tennis.

Making Sport Accessible for All

Over at Singapore Expo, Play Inclusive, Singapore's largest inclusive sport competition, brought together close to 3,500 participants and volunteers, including nearly 2,100 athletes and unified partners in a celebration of shared sporting experiences. Co-organised by SportCares, the philanthropic arm of SportSG, Special Olympics Singapore, and Singapore Disability Sports Council, the ninth edition saw athletes and Unified Partners train together in basketball, goalball and soundball in the weeks leading up to the finale event, fostering friendships and mutual understanding. The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour Ms Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment.

Play Inclusive is part of SportSG's broader efforts to make sport accessible for persons with disabilities, underpinned by the refreshed Disability Sports Master Plan (DSMP) announced in November 2024 by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the Enabling Sports Taskforce.

Under the DSMP, the second grant call for the Enabling Sports Fund (ESF) also opens today – welcoming proposals that bring innovative approaches to making sport more accessible and inclusive for persons with disabilities. Supported by the President's Challenge – with SportSG appointed as an Impact Partner – the Fund aims to raise at least $10 million by 2030. The first cycle, launched in 2025, supported 21 proposals, which are expected to benefit more than 8,000 persons with disabilities across more than 20 sports.

Also new this year, GASG 2026 features GetActive! Deals, bringing together more than 30 sport businesses with exclusive sport, fitness, wellness and retail offers throughout August – from trying a new sport or wellness experience to enjoying discounts on sporting gear. Engaging Communities Through Sport

In the lead up to today’s launch, GASG 2026 featured diverse programmes such as sport tryouts and competitions to encourage social mixing and strengthen community bonds.

The third edition of Youth@Play took place at Our Tampines Hub on 27 July and was graced by Guest-of-Honour Ms Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment. Close to 800 tertiary students gathered for a day of sport and friendly competition, with Learn-to-Play workshops in Skateboarding, Sport Climbing and Pickleball alongside the main event. Highlights included the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Games, where students from all three ITE colleges competed across sports including Flippa Ball, Tchoukball and Ultimate Frisbee, and the inaugural Inter-Polytechnic Pickleball Games, which featured teams from all five polytechnics competing across Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles categories.

Bridging generations through play, ActiveX Playdate @ GASG on 31 July gathered seniors from five Active Ageing Centres (AACs) and students from six primary schools in the East for an afternoon of intergenerational sporting fun at Red Swastika School. Dr Charlene Chen, Member of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Culture, Community and Youth, attended the event, which also marks the first time ActiveX Playdate is hosted by a school, bringing the programme into the heart of the community. Around 500 seniors and students took part, trying their hand at adaptive sports including boccia, ladder toss and seated floorball. Similar Playdates will also be taking place across another eight schools and nine AACs, encouraging students and seniors to celebrate National Day together.

Pesta Sukan, which kicked off on 19 June, united participants across more than 30 sports, including nine para sports. This year’s edition featured two new signature events — Run/Walk Challenge and Swim Challenge — as well as the Pesta Sukan Community Championship, where participants from various districts and neighbourhoods competed in sports, including Bowling, Football and Netball, all in celebration of sport, inclusivity, and the Singapore spirit.

GASG Celebrations to continue till 8 August

The festivities continue in the days ahead. Lion City Dance Convention at *SCAPE runs until 2 August, while the Seniors National Games Finals will be held at The Kallang's OCBC Arena on 4 August. This will be followed by the Nurture Kids Family Play Date with M.Y World at M.Y World @ Canberra Eastlink on 6 August.

GASG 2026 culminates with the ActiveSG Celebrates! sport carnivals at five ActiveSG Sport Centres across the island on 8 August. Sport Centres at Bedok, Hougang, Jurong East, Queenstown and Woodlands will come alive with sport tryouts, Active Health fitness challenges, wellness stations and National Day-themed activities and games — bringing families and communities together to celebrate the nation's birthday through sport.
