GetActive! Singapore Wraps Up 10th Edition with Inclusive Sport Activities

• More than one million attendees took part in numerous events across five weekends of GetActive! Singapore 2025, making it the longest-running and most well-attended edition ever

• Over 2,500 participants came together for two events that highlight the inclusivity of sport – Play Inclusive and ActiveSG Para Sport Academy Swim Competition – as a wrap-up of the annual celebration and festivities

Singapore, 23 August 2025 – GetActive! Singapore (GASG) 2025, the annual National Day celebration through sport, concluded its 10^th edition today by celebrating diverse communities through inclusive sport events, Play Inclusive and the ActiveSG Para Sport Academy (PSA) Swim Competition. An SG60 Signature event, this year’s GASG ran from 26 July to 23 August 2025, providing opportunities for Singaporeans to connect, show care, and contribute to the wider community in different ways. Spanning five weekends, this year’s edition was the longest-running and most well-attended GASG ever, attracting over a million participants.

“It was extra special this year to celebrate our 10^th edition of GASG as part of our nation’s SG60 festivities. We were very inspired to see so many people from our community coming together and engaging with one another at the many GASG activities organised in the past month, giving us the highest turnout for GASG since it began in 2016,” said Mr Alan Goh, CEO, SportSG. “While our activities conclude this weekend with Play Inclusive and the ActiveSG Para Sport Academy Swim Competition, we invite everyone to continue engaging in sport, regardless of background or ability. Inclusivity takes centre stage as GASG’s longest edition comes to a close

Taking place during GASG’s final weekend, Play Inclusive and the ActiveSG PSA Swim Competition provided several avenues for persons with disabilities to experience sport. Collectively, over 2,500 individuals – athletes, unified partners and members of the public – took part in this weekend’s inclusive sport festivities, creating opportunities for people from different communities to interact with and learn from one another while enjoying sport together.

Play Inclusive (22 and 23 August), a key highlight of GASG 2025, returned for its eighth edition this year, bringing inclusive sports experiences to more communities than ever before. Co-organised by SportCares, Special Olympics Singapore, and Singapore Disability Sports Council with the support of participating schools from the Ministry of Education, the event is Singapore’s largest inclusive sports movement, and a key strategic move of the refreshed Disability Sports Master Plan (DSMP) announced in 2024.

The main highlight of the event – the inclusive sports competition – was the culmination of a three-month training period for athletes and their unified partners, and featured a total of 10 sports this year, including badminton, basketball, boccia, floorball, football, goalball, soundball, wheelchair rugby, and football and basketball skills challenges.

Several new initiatives were also introduced, including an interactive learning journey where students from mainstream schools tried out inclusive sports, spectated various unified competitions live, and visited partner booths by ActiveSG, Active Health, National Library Board, Enabling Services Hub and National Youth Council to learn more about the needs of the differently abled community and the importance of sports, health and inclusiveness. Unified tennis tryouts were also offered for the first time in partnership with ActiveSG Tennis Academy, where sighted participants experienced simulated visual impairments and participated in wheelchair tennis.

Collectively, over 2,200 participants, including 1,200 athletes and their unified partners, students, and members of the public participated in the activities across multiple venues at the Singapore Sports Hub. More details on Play Inclusive can be found here.

Over at ActiveSG Delta Swimming Complex, the ActiveSG PSA Swim Competition brought together para swimmers of various abilities and competency levels, allowing them to experience the excitement of competitive swimming. The event saw more than 100 para athletes competing across 10 events, with representation in various categories including physical, intellectual and visual impairments.

This year marked the first-ever expanded edition of this event, reflecting SportSG’s commitment towards increasing accessibility to sports for persons with disabilities. While prior editions were limited to ActiveSG PSA participants, this year’s competition welcomed a larger pool of athletes from beyond ActiveSG’s PSA programmes, including those from Special Olympics Singapore and students from special education schools.

Showcasing the spirit of inclusiveness in sport, the event featured a mix of competitive and non-competitive categories for participants of all abilities. Athletes in the competitive categories challenged themselves in long-course 50m and 100m races, where timings were recorded and medal placements awarded. The non-competitive events focused more on providing athletes with the experience of swimming alongside their peers, and – for the first time – also included aided swimming categories such as the 25m freestyle with floats and the 25m freestyle with caregivers’ assistance.

In total, the event saw some 350 attendees, comprising para athletes, their supporters,  volunteers and event officials. Family members and caregivers who were present added to the vibrant atmosphere as they provided their support and cheered on the swimmers, some of whom were participating in a swimming event for the first time.

Aaron Wong, an ActiveSG PSA para swimmer with muscular dystrophy shared, “The ActiveSG PSA swim competition today has allowed me to challenge myself and put to practice what I’ve learned over the last 1.5 years with the programme. I am grateful for the support that my coaches have provided, the progress that I’ve had and the opportunity to compete today alongside so many other participants. I look forward to more of such opportunities, and the ability to continue growing as a swimmer both physically and mentally.”

 A decade of GASG demonstrates event’s reach and ability to bring together communities

Across the 10 editions, more than eight million individuals have participated in GASG and its numerous events, highlighting the event’s ability to bring together individuals from all walks of life to embrace sport and active living.

This weekend concluded a month-long suite of activities, rolled out to provide Singaporeans with the opportunity to come together and celebrate National Day through active play, meaningful connections, and shared experiences.

Various GASG staples were once again part of this year’s festivities. These include the Pesta Sukan sport competitions, Majulah Fiesta at the Singapore Sports Hub and the Heartland Celebrations in partnership with the People’s Association (PA) and the National Day Parade (NDP) Executive Committee.

New activities were also introduced this year, with a special focus on aquatic events in conjunction with Singapore’s hosting of the World Aquatics Championships and the World Para Swimming Championships. These included the AQUA Ekiden, Flippa Ball Frenzy, and Aqua Dance Spectacular.

Other events included ActiveX Playdate @ Seniors Sports Day, the Active Health Community Fitness Challenge (AHrena), ActiveSG Football Academy (AFA) Football Fiesta, Lion City Dance Convention and Youth@Play, highlighting the variety of offerings available to diverse communities regardless of age, fitness level or ability.
