Singapore, 8 August 2026 – GetActive! Singapore (GASG) 2026, Sport Singapore's (SportSG) annual National Day celebration through sport, wrapped up its 11th edition today with ActiveSG Celebrates! sport carnivals held across five Sport Centres islandwide. This year's edition brought many people in our community together through sport, with more than 650,000 participants of all ages and abilities taking part in activities and events over two weeks, from 25 July to 8 August.
“GetActive! Singapore has once again brought our people together through sport. In the past two weeks, it was wonderful to see Singaporeans of all ages and backgrounds come together to play, compete, discover new sports and forge stronger connections with one another. These shared experiences help us to build stronger communities and a more connected Singapore together. We hope that the spirit of GASG will continue to inspire Singaporeans to stay active, build enduring friendships and embrace sport as a way of life,” said Mr Alan Goh, CEO, Sport Singapore.
National Day Celebrations at the Heartlands
Residents across the island kicked off the National Day long weekend at ActiveSG Celebrates! sport carnivals held at ActiveSG Bedok, Hougang, Jurong East, Queenstown and Woodlands Sport Centres. Close to 15,000 visitors enjoyed sport try-outs, Active Health fitness challenges, wellness stations and National Day-themed fringe activities and crafts across the five locations, along with complimentary all-day access to ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools.
“This is my first time taking part in a sport carnival like this, and I had a lot of fun joining the Salsation Dance workout. I came all the way from Punggol with my childhood friend, who invited me to join her and her colleagues. It was great to work up a sweat, meet new people and have fun together. It’s a wonderful way to spend National Day,” said Ms Rahmah Othman, 53, at ActiveSG Jurong East Sport Centre.
The carnival at ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre also marked the facility’s official opening after renovation, attended by Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Law & Ministry of Social and Family Development, and Grassroots Adviser to Queenstown SMC. As Singapore's first neighbourhood sports complex first opened in 1970, the refreshed centre features a new annexe building with an inclusive gym, activity rooms and free-to-play spaces, alongside a World Rugby-standard rugby field and a new dry dive facility for Team Singapore athletes.
A Nationwide Celebration Through Sport
Since its inception, GASG has grown into one of Singapore's most anticipated National Day celebration through sport, bringing together Singaporeans from all walks of life to mark the nation's birthday with sporting experiences. This year's edition featured a mix of returning favourites and new experiences. Competitive sport took centre stage at Pesta Sukan, while Play Inclusive and the Seniors National Games championed inclusive participation for persons of all abilities and ages. Youths discovered movement and new sports through the Lion City Dance Convention and Youth@Play, while families bonded through parent-child activities at the Nurture Kids Family Playdate with M.Y World. ActiveX Playdate@GASG brought different generations together through shared play.
Making its debut this year, GetActive! Deals brought together more than 30 partners from the sport, fitness and wellness sectors to extend National Day celebrations with exclusive facility, programme and retail promotions and discounts. More information can be found at this link.
Together, these programmes reflect SportSG's commitment to making sport accessible, inclusive and celebratory for every Singaporean. More details about the various programmes and events under GASG 2026 can be found at https://www.activesgcircle.gov.sg/getactive-singapore.
