Singapore, 15 November 2025 – The inaugural ActiveSG Cup 2025 Hockey Finals, organised by Sport Singapore, concluded successfully at Delta Sport Centre last evening, marking a new chapter for youth sport in Singapore.
The year-end season of the ActiveSG Cup 2025, running from October to December 2025, introduces Hockey and Water Polo to the nation’s largest multi-sport grassroots competition platform. Supported by the President’s Challenge, these sports — steeped in local heritage —ensure that every child, regardless of background, has the chance to play, grow, and excel.
“The addition of Hockey and Water Polo — two sports with rich history in Singapore — to the ActiveSG Cup this year is a significant milestone, as it expands competition opportunities and structured pathways for our youths,” said Marcus Tan, Chief, Sport Development Group, Sport Singapore. “This achievement is made possible with the support of the President’s Challenge, ensuring that children and youth of all backgrounds and abilities have access to meaningful, inspiring, and inclusive sporting pathways.”
Ms Amy Hing, Deputy Secretary (Community and Youth), Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth attended the finals, in celebrating the achievements of Singapore’s young athletes. During the event, she toured the ActiveSG Academies and Clubs exhibition panels showcasing the growth of grassroots sport in Singapore, met coaches from the Singapore Hockey Federation and ActiveSG Hockey Academy, interacted with former and current Team Singapore Hockey players, watched the Boys’ and Girls’ U12 finals, and presented medals and trophies to the winning teams.
Celebrating Young Talent
The ActiveSG Cup 2025 Hockey finals brought together about 140 young athletes and drew more than 350 attendees, including students, parents, coaches and hockey officials.
AHA Blaze was crowned the Boys’ U12 champions after defeating AHA Storm, while AHA Starblades triumphed over AHA Bravehearts to claim the Girls’ U12 title.
“I am very proud of my team’s achievement. We were initially trailing behind but persevered to give our best and eventually made a comeback in the fourth quarter before winning the penalties. I enjoyed playing in this ActiveSG Cup as it us the opportunity to compete against other teams and see where our level stands,” said Justin Lim, 12, captain of AHA Blaze.
“This win is a team effort, and I am absolutely delighted with how we performed tonight. My teammates and I put tremendous effort throughout the past year into achieving this result. This competition has not only given us the opportunity to compete, but also taught us values such as teamwork, honour and resilience,” said Tan Huiying, 12, captain of AHA Starblades.
Building Pathways for Growth
Launched in 2022, the ActiveSG Cup bridges gaps in Singapore’s sporting ecosystem, offering structured competition for youths aged 8 to 21 while complementing school and club programmes. It nurtures grassroots talent, promotes sportsmanship, and strengthens family and community engagement.
In 2024, the Cup attracted over 5,300 participants across five sports. The addition of Hockey and Water Polo in 2025 represents a significant milestone in expanding access and supporting aspiring athletes.
The ActiveSG Cup 2025 year-end season continues with 3x3 Basketball, Volleyball, Water Polo, and Football, and is expected to involve about 4,500 participants across these four sports. Held throughout the year — particularly during the school holidays — the competition offers youth athletes diverse opportunities to compete and grow through sport.
