Singapore, 26 July 2025 – GetActive! Singapore (GASG) 2025, the annual National Day celebration through sport, kicked off its 10th edition today at the Singapore Sports Hub. A SG60 signature event, this year’s GASG will run across five weekends from 26 July to 23 August 2025, making it the longest edition of GASG since it began in 2016. GASG 2025 introduces new offerings which provides more opportunities for Singaporeans to come together and celebrate National Day through active play, meaningful connections, and shared experiences.
GASG 2025 was launched by guest-of-honour Mr David Neo, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, & Senior Minister of State for Education, together with Head of Civil Service Mr Leo Yip and senior management from Sport Singapore (SportSG), Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM), and Civil Service Club.
The launch event, held alongside the Civil Service Club’s Public Service Sports and Family Day (PSSFD), saw more than 5,500 participants at OCBC Square, where they took part in the National Day Observance Ceremony. They then grooved along to the GASG Singapore Workout - Dance of the Nation, choreographed to this year’s National Day theme song, “Here We Are”, before proceeding on the 3.5km Olympic Day Walk around the Singapore Sports Hub.
“Over the last 10 years, GetActive! Singapore has grown into a national platform with inclusive and engaging sporting activities for Singaporeans to come together to celebrate, foster meaningful connections and stay active,” said Mr Alan Goh, CEO, SportSG. “We have an expanded line-up of activities as we celebrate SG60 and our collective Singapore spirit, with this year’s edition held in conjunction with our historic hosting of the first World Aquatics Championships in Southeast Asia, right here in Singapore. We will build on the success of GetActive! Singapore by continuing to provide opportunities for Singaporeans to lead active and healthier lives.”
Between 2016 and 2024, GASG welcomed more than seven million participants across various events, many of which have since become GASG staples such as Pesta Sukan, Play Inclusive, Majulah Fiesta – organised in collaboration with KASM – and the Heartland Celebrations in partnership with the People’s Association (PA) and the National Day Parade (NDP) Executive Committee.
This year, GASG will feature several new offerings across the month-long event. Pesta Sukan also returns this year with the largest number of sports ever with 37 sports – including 11 with para categories – and sport try-outs for 21 sports including canoe polo, dragon boat, and pickleball. Six new sports – golf, beach wrestling, and the mind sports of Chess, Contract Bridge, Weiqi and Xiangqi – have also been introduced to expand the competition’s reach. The Community Championship has also added bowling and floorball, bringing the total number of sports to seven. With more than 50,000 sign-ups expected, 2025 marks the edition with the largest number of registered participants ever. For the first time, participants will also receive sustainable medals and trophies made up of recycled metals and FSC-certified wood.
