GFL Workshop for Coaches

Singapore , 20 May 2016

On the 11th of May, the Leadership Development department organised a half-day Game-for-Life (GFL) workshop for Team Sport Coaches. The workshop is the first run of a GFL workshop that is being offered as part of the Continuing Coach Education (CCE) and was attended by 30 coaches.

The experiential workshop took the coaches through a series of practical activities that allowed coaches to experience a values-based football session conducted by Technical Directors Ivan Garcia and Rafael Palacios from Real Madrid Foundation Technical Academy (Singapore). This was followed by learning about the GFL framework as a structured approach to infuse values within coaching sessions facilitated by Mr. Gobinathan Nair. The session ended with the coaches having a shot at designing & delivering a sport activity infused with values using the GFL framework.

Character is not automatically built through sports, but only through the consistent and persistent efforts of parents, teachers, and coaches will sportsmanship and other positive values be learned and demonstrated.”
