Coach Development Grant (CDG) Sharing Session: Learning Experience from the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Indoor Hockey World Cup and High Performance Coaching Course

(For NROC Team Sports Coaches)

Description

At this workshop, CDG recipient Mr Redzuan Bin Ponirin (National Coach, Singapore Men’s and Women’s Indoor Hockey Teams) will be sharing his learning experience from a recent trip to Berlin, Germany for the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Indoor Hockey High Performance Coaching course and FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup.

Participants will primarily learn:

  • High performance coaching principles in indoor hockey, which may also be applied to your sport
  • How are coaching courses conducted in Europe, and how is it different from local coaching courses?
  • Indoor hockey – how is it played, its rules, competitions, facilities, etc

Organised in early February 2018, the FIH Indoor Hockey High Performance Coaching course featured 36 coaches from 18 countries across 5 continents. The FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup, held concurrently as the course, featured 24 teams (12 Men’s, 12 Women’s) primarily from Europe.

About the Presenter

Redzuan is an experienced coach, athlete and performance analyst. From 1999 to 2010, Redzuan represented Malaysia at international, continental and regional indoor and outdoor hockey tournaments. Aside from coaching the Singapore national team, he also has extensive experience in sports performance analysis and also coaches local school teams at the Secondary and Junior College levels.
