Instilling Mental Resilience in Swimmers


Held in conjunction with the Singapura Finance 46th Singapore National Age Group Swimming Championship, this workshop aims to help you mould your young athletes to reach their fullest potential and put in their best performance during trainings and competitions.! Mental Resilience is the key building block in allowing the younger ones realise his or her maximum potential and at end of this workshop, coaches will have a clear understanding on how to develop mental resilience without exhausting them.


Topics include:
i. Introduction to Mental Resilience and what it actually means
ii. Developing Mental Resilience - A framework of intervention part 1
iii. Developing Mental Resilience - A framework of intervention part 2
iv. Case studies on Mental Resilience
v. The risk of burnout


Mr Azrulnizam Shah, a Psychology major specialising in Sport Psychology, has been actively involved in management, sport performance, and coaching capabilities for close to a decade. He is currently Chief Executive of Home United Football Club. Highly recognized in the sport science and psychology field, Mr Azrulnizam lends his wealth of knowledge to several of our local national teams and sport organisations, such as the National Water Polo Team, Singapore Rugby Union, and Singapore Baseball Association and Singapore Softball Association. Mr Azrulnizam ’s list of affiliations also includes Singapore Sports Institute, SportSingapore, Singapore National Olympic Committee, National University of Singapore, and other international universities and associations.
