The Science of Video-based Analysis in Sports – Notational Analysis
(For All NROC Coaches)
Description
This is an intermediate course in match analysis using video-based technology tools in sports. Participants will learn how to apply basic data analytics in a sports context. During the course, participants will have the opportunity to practice with top-notch software used by many professional clubs to improve their teams’ performance.
Learning Objectives
Participants will apply the concepts of sports analysis and data analytics to enhance coaching and provide relevant feedback to sports teams.
During the course, students will learn the following:
- Technological tools used in match analysis
- Live videoing, match tagging, and data analysis
- Process of creating video highlights
- Interpretation of match data
- Cloud-based video management and data sharing
This course is suitable for sports coaches, sports analysts and physical education teachers. A minimum 20 pax and maximum 25 pax will be allowed per course.
At the end of the course:
- Participants will be awarded the Certificate of Attendance by Republic Polytechnic upon completing the course
- Participants will be awarded the Dartfish Performance Analyst – Certified User by Dartfish SA if they meet the additional course requirement
About the Presenter
Ms Woo Mei Teng is a coach developer and lecturer in the Diploma in Sports Coaching at Republic Polytechnic. She is currently undertaking her Ph.D., major in Sports Pedagogy, with the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. She specializes in performance analysis, kinesiology, and motor control and learning. She is well-versed in using a wide range of technology (e.g., GPS system, video-based analysis, motion and match analysis, physiology testing) to enhance coaching. She has worked on the sports coaching and sports analysis related research in collaboration with National Institute of Education (NIE) and sports coaches (Hockey; Water Polo). She served as performance analyst for the Singapore Indoor Hockey Men’s and Women’s teams during the 29th SEA Games.
