AquaFins Lunch Talk Series: Aquatic Education Literature Review

(For Swimming coaches only)


This workshop is covered under the CCE Training Allowance.

At this lunch talk, Mr Danny Ong (Principal of AquaFins) will be facilitating an in-depth understanding of literature article “From Swimming Skill to Water Competence: Towards a More Inclusive Drowning Prevention Future”. Coaches will align the research evidence in the article with practical teaching of the skills presented in our National Programme – SwimSafer.

  • Workshop (A) – main topic, breath control competence, stationary surface competence, water orientation competence and propulsion competence
  • Workshop (B) – main topic, underwater competence, safe exit competence, personal flotation device (PFD / lifejacket) competence and clothed water competence
  • Workshop (C) – main topic, knowledge of local hazard competence, coping with risk competence – awareness, assessment, avoidance, assess personal competence and rescue competence

About the Presenter

Mr Danny Ong is certified International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Para-Sport Educator. He is an accredited swimming coach within the National Registry of Coaches (NROC), a CET Associate Lecturer with Republic Polytechnic and an ex-Master Trainer / Chief Assessor of SwimSafer. In addition, he is the Principal of AquaFins. The only adaptive swim school in Singapore with the early intervention (aquatic) programme endorsed by National Council of Social Service (NCSS).

  • Workshop B: 9 June 2021 (Wednesday), 1pm to 3pm
  • Workshop C: 10 June 2021 (Thursday), 1pm to 3pm 




Pricing per workshop – all pricing includes GST:

  • NROC Coaches – S$12 per pax
  • Non-NROC Coaches – S$24 per pax

2 hours per workshop
