Title

Teaching Resilience through Goalball – A Sharing Session by Coach Development Grant (CDG) Recipient Hansen Bay

(For NROC Team Sports Coaches only)

Description

At this workshop, Coach Development Grant (CDG) recipient Mr Hansen Bay will be sharing his learning experience from his overseas coaching attachment as the New South Wales (NSW) Men’s and Youth Assistant Team Coach for 2018 Australian Goalball Championships in October 2018.

This workshop will discuss about how Goalball can be used to teach resilience. Participants should be dressed in track pants as there is a practical segment in this workshop.

Resilience is the ability to bounce back when things don't go as planned:

  • “How do we teach Resilience?”
  • “What are the thinking skills associated with Resilience?”

Through the game of Goalball, participants will learn how to coach their students or athletes to focus their time and energy on events that they have control over, instead of being paralysed by uncontrollable events.

About the Presenter

This workshop will be conducted by Mr Hansen Bay. Hansen is the current National Coach for Men’s and Women’s Goalball teams and he is also an International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Coach Educator. He has academic background and work experience in physical education and sports psychology.
