SportCares AMAZE (Always Making Aquatics a Zestful Experience) Workshop Co-Presented by SportCares and AquaFins

(For NROC Swimming Coaches only)

Description

This 1.5-day workshop covers understanding of disabilities, communication, assessments and how to conduct aquatic movement and swimming lessons for learners with disabilities. Understand the art and science behind the ‘why’ and ‘how’ to assist learners with disabilities in water. On the 2nd day of workshop, there will be a practical session involving handling of learners with disabilities.

This workshop is suitable for:

  • Coaches who are interested in coaching Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), but are unsure how to do so
  • Coaches who needs help to better understand how to coach learners with disability

About the Presenter

This workshop is conducted by Mr Danny Ong. Danny is currently the Principal and Aquatic Educator of Persons with Special Needs at AquaFins. He has 25 years of experience coaching Swimmers with Special Needs, and was formerly a Special Education teacher at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore. He is an International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Educator and also the master trainer with SportSG (ActiveSG-SwimSafer Programme).

* Course fees are subsidized 50% by SportCares Disability Sports Master Plan (DSMP). Original course fee is S$500.00 per pax. Participants are required to complete a minimum of 4 hours of practicum of swim programme.
