Goalball for All – A Sharing Session by Coach Development Grant (CDG) Recipient Hansen Bay

(For All NROC Coaches)

What is Inclusion? How does an inclusive program or competition look like? Does it take special training to be an “inclusive” coach?

You will find answers to these questions and more at this workshop conducted by Coach Development Grant (CDG) recipient Mr Hansen Bay. He will be sharing his learning experience from his overseas coaching attachment as the New South Wales (NSW) Men’s and Youth Assistant Team Coach for 2018 Australian Goalball Championships in October 2018.

This workshop will be divided into 3 parts as follows. Participants should be dressed in track pants as there is a practical segment in this workshop:

  • Part 1: Sharing about the Australian Goalball Championships. Specifically, how the competition is aligned with MCCY’s Disability Sport Master Plan guidelines for inclusion.
  • Part 2: Hands-on session where teachers and coaches get to experience Lead Up™ Goalball – a modified version of the original Paralympic game.
  • Part 3: Discussion around adapting and modifying activities using the TREE method.

Here are the main learning outcomes from this workshop:

  1. Explain what Inclusion is
  2. Experience Lead Up Goalball
  3. Describe how to adapt and modify activities using the TREE method
