‘Body Composition and Assessment’ by ITE College East

(For all NROC Coaches)


This workshop covers the following sub-topics:

  1. Purpose and basic principles of fitness assessment
  2. Definition of body fat composition and the purpose of its measurement.
  3. Different types of body composition assessment and their purpose
  4. Explanation on safe and correct procedures for administering the skinfold measurement to determine body fat composition
  5. Explanation on how to interpret the result of the skinfold assessment

About the Presenter

This workshop is conducted by Mr Mazlin Abdul Rani (Lecturer (Sport Management), School of Business & Services, ITE College East).

Mazlin has over 16 years of experience in the education and training sectors, mainly specialising in physical education, fitness and sports coaching of youths and adults. In the area of youth fitness and sports coaching, he has trained youth sports teams and implemented physical education curriculum in schools.

He has a MSc Exercise and Sports from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and a BSc App (Hon) Human Movement from the University of Queensland, Australia. He also has personal training and specialist certifications from American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Council on Exercise (ACE) and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and has a wide interest in applied exercise science, youth fitness, orthopaedic exercise and sports therapy.
