Singapore Dragon Boat athletes suspended for anti-doping rule violations

Four athletes from the NUS Dragon Boat Team, namely Chan Kai Jun, Kwee Yik Han, Ng Hao Ming and Koh Jun Kiat, have received a 1-year ban by the National Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee (NADC) for an anti-doping rule violation.

All four individuals tested positive for Oxilofrine (Methylsynephrine), a specified Stimulant under category S6 (Stimulants) of WADA’s 2019 Prohibited List, following an in-competition test by the Singapore Dragon Boat Association on 14 July 2019. The NUS team had come in second in the Men’s 1000m, Singapore Nationals during the 2019 Singapore Dragon Boat Festival.

Their period of ineligibility began on 14 July 2019, the date of the sample collection. Their competition results obtained on and after 14 July 2019 are disqualified and all medals, points and prizes are forfeited.
